For the first time in about 15 years, Winston-Salem, North Carolina is welcoming new homes to the Happy Hill neighborhood–and it’s happening practically overnight.
In May of 2024, Habitat for Humanity Forsyth hosted the Home Builders Blitz, an epic event where eight builders and a small army of volunteers set out to build five homes in just five days. These five houses will be the first of 13 that Habitat Forsyth plans to construct to provide affordable housing to families in Happy Hill Community. The rest of the homes will be built in the coming years as part of a community revitalization effort.
Building five homes in five days is no small feat. Habitat Forsyth faced their fair share of challenges when coordinating the large group of volunteers and builders. In addition to keeping track of multiple builders on different jobsites, they also needed to maintain a high standard of safety and security to ensure the projects could be completed in five days without any significant hiccups like theft or injury.
To address these challenges, Habitat Forsyth turned to TrueLook to install construction cameras on all 5 jobsites so that they could monitor them in real time. Although their main priority was security, they also used the cameras for marketing purposes. They used the camera footage to create time-lapses which they shared with the community to build excitement about the new structures. They also provided links to live streams so community members could watch the progress and builders could check in periodically for security purposes.

The 2024 Home Builders Blitz was a major success, providing five new homes to families in need and engaging the Happy Hill Community along the way. Habitat Forsyth will continue to build new homes in the community over the next few years, and they plan to turn to TrueLook to help secure their jobsites and engage the broader community.
