The Project

MAPP, LLC was selected as the general contractor to complete the The Liberation Pavilion, which is the final installment of the expansion of the National WWII Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans celebrates and educates future generations about the American experience in WWII, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought on the battlefront and served on the Home Front.

The Challenge

Given the high visibility required for this critical project, MAPP’s Director of Technology, Clayton Samson, conducted an in-depth evaluation of available construction camera solutions. Clayton stated, “We were looking for a camera that provided our team and external stakeholders with total jobsite visibility.” They needed panoramic views to effectively monitor all activities on the site. These views not only serve marketing purposes but also provide a 24/7 monitoring system essential for a project of this scale.

Located in New Orleans, MAPP anticipated the need to justify project delays due to unpredictable weather events. These challenges led them to seek out a construction camera vendor capable of meeting their complex needs.

"The ability to have optical zoom on our cameras to truly, from a distance, see if people have their safety glasses on, their hard hats on, we’re able to cover so much area than we ever have before."

The TrueLook Solution

After a quick consultation with TrueLook, MAPP felt confident that TrueLook’s PTZ Camera and platform checked all the boxes. The team appreciated that this camera offers 360° views for remote viewing, giving them a comprehensive view of the entire job site’s progress from any location.

Unlike many competitors’ PTZ cameras, TrueLook Cameras have true optical zoom. This means that the image remains at the highest resolution, no matter how far you zoom in, giving the team clear and precise visuals while streaming video.

The Results

By implementing TrueLook’s solutions, MAPP created captivating time-lapses and high-quality digital imagery that documented the expansion and evolution of a national landmark. The cameras and platform reduced travel requirements, saving both time and money while enhancing safety by limiting the number of personnel on-site. Additionally, TrueLook’s platform fostered collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement by providing direct access to real-time project progress.

MAPP was so impressed with the benefits of TrueLook’s cameras and platform that they continue to use TrueLook on multiple projects every year. Their ongoing satisfaction with TrueLook’s technology underscores its value and effectiveness in delivering top-tier construction monitoring solutions.

"The durability and flexibility of the camera enabled us to capture the entire jobsite without interruption. The solar panels kept the camera running consistently, even during cloudy weather and at night."
