Project Highlight: DeSaix Boulevard Bridge
Demo and Reconstruction
RNGD led the reconstruction of the DeSaix Bridge, a vital 96-foot crossing connecting Wisner and DeSaix Boulevards over Bayou St. John in New Orleans. Commissioned by the City of New Orleans and the Department of Public Works, this $6 million project enhances access between Orleans Parish Districts A and D, benefiting motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. The new bridge features four travel lanes, a 10-foot bike lane, pedestrian walkways, and decorative concrete side panels while also improving waterway access for canoe, kayak, and paddleboard traffic. To keep the project on track and maintain site security, RNGD utilized a TrueLook Fixed-Position Camera, capturing critical progress updates throughout construction.
This project presented unique challenges, such as rerouting an electrical feeder line that powered a key pump station, requiring precise directional drilling under Bayou St. John. Additionally, working near the active City Park and surrounding areas demanded strict traffic control and safety measures. The TrueLook Camera played a key role in navigating these complexities by providing remote live viewing, allowing teams to monitor work without needing to be on-site constantly. Time-lapse footage helped document major milestones so that every phase—from demolition to the final concrete pour—was well-tracked and reviewed as needed. With TrueLook’s jobsite visibility, project teams stayed informed on progress, allowing for timely decision-making. Through innovation and adaptability, RNGD successfully delivered a modernized DeSaix Bridge that will serve the New Orleans community for years to come.
