Project Highlight: Shiley-Marcos Center for Design & Innovation
Built by Skanska
The Shiley-Marcos Center for Design & Innovation at the University of Portland, completed by Skanska between August 2022 and January 2024, exemplifies modern construction excellence. This 43,800-square-foot facility is designed to foster innovation and discovery in academia by offering the tools and spaces needed for future learning and invention.
To enhance project oversight and security, Skanska utilized a TrueLook 1080p IR PTZ camera, enabling real-time, remote monitoring of the construction site. This technology allowed stakeholders to view live streaming footage, control the camera’s pan-tilt-zoom functions for comprehensive site visibility, and capture high-definition images for documentation purposes. The camera’s infrared capabilities ensured clear visuals even in low-light conditions, bolstering site security by deterring unauthorized access. Additionally, the system’s time-lapse feature provided a chronological visual record of the project’s progression, facilitating quality assurance and effective communication among team members.
