Project Highlight: Smoky Falls Dam Rehabilitation

Built by Kiewit

Kiewit’s Smoky Falls Dam project, spanning two years, was a massive undertaking that required continuous monitoring across diverse and challenging conditions. The team worked to rehabilitate the 100-year-old spillway at Ontario Power Generation’s Smoky Falls Generating Station. To document every phase of construction, Kiewit deployed two TrueLook Fixed 4K IR Cameras on-site. These cameras provided real-time visuals of the jobsite, capturing intricate details even in the harshest environments. Whether it was the blustery snow or summer heat in northeast Ontario, the 4K resolution and infrared capabilities ensured optimal visibility, regardless of the weather.

The use of these high-definition cameras not only enabled the team to maintain a secure and documented record of progress but also helped key stakeholders monitor developments remotely. This two-year project was a testament to how cutting-edge technology like the Fixed 4K IR cameras can withstand extreme conditions and play a crucial role in large-scale, long-term projects.
